Udana Prana and Devadatta Upa Prana

Udana Prana or Udana has its own sub vital air called Devadatta Upa Prana (or Devdutt Upa Prana or Devdatt Upa Prana) … Both Udana and Devadatta or Devdutt or Devdatt are in head region, above the throat area of physical body … Udana Prana moves in an upwardly direction i.e. towards the top of head … Udana Prana is of a Purple color and Devadatta Upa Prana (or Devdutt Upa Prana or Devdatt Upa Prana) is of light blue color which has slight amount of purple colored specs in it, which denote its union to Udana Prana (i.e. 4th vital air or Udana) …

This topic continues from the previous one which had the header of “Prana Prana and Naga Upa Prana” … This is the twelfth part of this series of topics on Hridayakasha Garbha Tantra

Proceeding towards the 4th vital air or Udana Prana and 4th sub vital air …

Then eternal guide then told … “Now, let’s go into the 4th vital air and the 4th sub vital air” …

And the eternal guide and its little student commenced their walk to the direction that the eternal guide had pointed …

The little student asked while walking … “But, why was the color of this 3rd sub vital air brighter, even while it is lighter that other sub vital airs?” ..

The eternal guide smiled and said while he still continued walking towards the 4th vital air and 4th sub vital through the 3rd sub vital air (or or 3rd Upa Prana or Naga Upa Prana) … “This is the proof of a full forward movement” …

The little student understood and held the hand of the eternal guide tighter than ever, as the little student had realized that … “The real cause of forward movement of his current evolutionary cycle, could not be let go now, and thus that cause has to be held tighter, than ever” …

 

4th Prana or Udana prana and 4th sub vital air or Devadatta Upa Prana …

As the little student was walking while holding to one hand of the eternal guide, the guide stopped and pointed to the forward part where a purple hue was visible and then he said … “That is the 4th vital air or 4th prana or Udana prana as it is also called” …

The little student saw and said … “This is very bright” …

The eternal guide replied … “As bright as it could be” …

Then the guide continued … “This is the light that is first seen by anyone who meditates on the Ajna chakra or third eye chakra … And this light has shooting colors of red, green and white lights within it, prior this light turns into a vertical eye shaped orb of orange light which is enveloping another eye shaped orb yellow golden hue … But this is the initial state only as the final stage of this, is not like the way it has been described here” …

The eternal guide continued further … And in the final condition, this eye shaped orb like light, turns into pure diamond colored white middle part which is enveloped by a bright orange colored light … This is how it is within advanced aspirants i.e. those who have qualified to exit from the entirety of Makers Makings … This state denotes the accomplishment of Agyarandra or the secret crevice (of liberation) which is present in the area of third eye … And this condition also denotes the accomplishment of Raudri Rudra Yoga, which in turn denotes a very high attainment that can also be termed as Sagun Swaroop Stithi” …

The eternal guide continued … “This is the light which is of the orb of mind, as it is situated on top of the brain and that too, when the 4th vital air envelopes the orb of mind that is between the third eye chakra and the thousand petalled crown Chakra … This Udana Prana (or 4th vital air) is present right from the top part of chest (heart) till the top of the head and it eventually eventually merges with the 5th vital air (Vyana Prana) that is located around the Udana Prana which is at the top of the head (extremities of outer skin on head) … This is because the 5th vital air (Vyana) surrounds (or envelopes) all other vital airs, including the 4th that is discussed here … This 4th vital air is upward moving (i.e. it moves towards the top of the head from area which is above the chest) … And at the same time, it also resides within the throat Chakra (or Vishuddha chakra) and thus some sages have also told the Udana Prana to be of the Vishuddha Chakra (throat chakra)” …

And the eternal guide continued … But in lesser proportions, this 4th vital air (or Udana Prana) is also present until the Navel Chakra … From the throat till the navel, this 4th vital air passes through the ‘Prana Prana’ which is present in the chest area (heart area) … This lower movement of 4th vital air (or Udana Prana) is arrived at whenever the 2nd vital air of abdominal area (or Samana Prana) is having excessive inward movements and these inward movements end up pulling other vital airs into itself” …

The eternal guide then said … “Come we shall enter this 4th vital air and see it from inside the Cave of Prana” …

The little student walked with the eternal guide and entered the bright purple hue and both kept walking until the eternal guide told to stop and see the movements of the Udana Prana (or the 4th vital air) …

The little student saw and asked … “This has very less movement … And its movement is something like water vapor rising up to the top of head” …

The eternal guide smiled and said … “Yes, this is like water vapor made up of a bright purple light” …

And then asked the student … “Now also see all the connections of that this 4th vital air effects?” …

The little student saw and said … “This connects to the base of the crown Chakra (Brahmarandra Chakra) and enters the crown Chakra which has white color and this white is further enveloped by golden color” …

And then the little student looked at the divine face of eternal guide to see if this was correct …

The guide smiled and motioned the student to continue …

Satisfied, the little student said … “This Udana Prana (or 4th vital air) also enters the two petals of the third eye Chakra (or Ajna chakra) and thus these petals have a periphery which is very similar to this 4th vital air … As also, this 4th vital air (or Udana Prana) enters these two petals (or Ajna Chakra or third eye chakra) so that these petals also have this purple hued vapor like stuff rising from them (rising from the petals) which connect to the central or middle part of the Ajna chakra (or the third eye Chakra) which itself is pure white in color” …

And then the little student looked at its guide to see if this was correct … The guide smiled and motioned the student to continue …

The student continued … “This 4th vital air (or Udana Prana) is the main Prana of Vishuddha chakra (or the throat Chakra) and it is present in the center of the throat plexus … Due to this air, from within the center of throat chakra, are also rising a large amount of vapor like stuff and this rising vapor like stuff is also of a deep purple color and this is even when the color of the center of throat chakra is of deep blue hue … The central part of Vishuddha chakra also has the yellow color, which denotes presence of a minor amount of Prana Prana in it … This deep purple color which is like an upwardly rising vapory light of Udana Prana, is present everywhere above the top of chest … Within the brain, this purple color of Udana Prana is most predominant at the line which denotes the union of brain hemispheres and from here this light is rising upwards to the topmost part of head to merge with the 5th vital air (Vyana Prana) which due to its outward flows is taking some part of it (i.e. Udana) out of the body … As also from the central depression of the brain, it spreads and envelopes the pituitary gland which is just behind the Agya chakra (or the third eye Chakra)” …

Then the little student again looked at the eternal guide, who motioned him to continue speaking …

Thus the little student continued … “This vital air is also present in the inner part of the nostrils … At certain points, this vital air also has the 3rd vital air (Prana Prana) residing within it and this probably is the reason for those slight upwardly yet forward movements of this 4th vital air … Above the heart Chakra, this 4th vital air (or Udana Prana) and third vital air of ‘Prana Prana are seen to be apparently uniting to each other, but this union is through the 3rd sub vital air (Nag Upa Prana) and thus the petals of the heart Chakra also have traces of this color of deep purple energy which is rising upwards even within those petals” …

And then the little student stopped and again looked up to the eternal guide …

The eternal guide said with a smile … “And what about the lungs, heart, throat, esophagus, trachea, alveoli?” …

The little student said … “All have this Prana, but only in traces … Heart has this Udana at peripheries of valves, within the auricles and  of the ventricles … The lungs are having this 4th vital air on the surfaces of alveoli and trachea and the inner chamber of the lungs and this air also surrounds the outer side of lungs … This 4th vital air also surrounds the outer watery envelope of the brain hemispheres … This air is very prominent and brightest in the brain and is also very predominant in between the heart and the throat Chakra … Esophagus is enveloped by this air, as also the salivary glands have this air within them … All this observation only means, that, from the area above the heart till the brain, this 4th vital air is predominantly present within the vital air sheath (or Pranamaya Kosha)” …

And then the little student again looked up to its guide who was now smiling more than ever …

The eternal guide said … “This vital air leads to the transformation of everything into a vapory state and thus it turns everything into a higher subtlety, so that subtler state rises upwards … This also is the air which leads to higher meditative states … When this air is mixed with the 3rd vital air (or Prana Prana) and then this united state rises to the top of head, then it leads to a state of merging of these two airs at the top of the head … At this state, the orb of mind which is present within the brain area turns golden in color and this is a state of the pristine cognition (or Ritambhara Prajna) as it is also called … At this pristine cognitive state (as is of Ritambhara Prajna), this air also leads to a deeper intuitive ability especially when this air accumulates within the 5th vital air (Vyana Prana) and moves the 5th vital air just till the periphery of the skin of the skull (i.e. due to the upward movement of the 4th vital, the 5th vital which is enveloping it, also begins getting pushed till beyond the extremities of skull top) … Thus, are pressures felt inside the skull bone, by some aspirants” …

The eternal guide continued … “This vital air also leads to death especially if the one who meditates on this air, ends up generating stronger thought impulses such that this air just shoots up in a strong energy state and hits the top of the head of the one who is meditating … And if this fuller strength of the 4th vital air is absorbed instantly by the 5th vital, so as to send this air outside the physical (due to outwardly movement of the 5th vital air) then in such a case, the one who is meditating, would either collapse or enters a trance or could even die … Death in in those circumstances when the force of this air is suddenly let loose from Vishuddha chakra and then it shoots upwards to the top of head and it either damages the brain or in very rare circumstances, it can also rip open the skull bones and spill the brain out of the skull … This is why there have been cases during Yogic history, where the skull of the some aspirants were broken and which as such killed those aspirants” …

Then the eternal guide continued … “And this is also the reason why ‘This one (pointing to the little student)’ those pressures at the top of skull and sometimes the skull bones also lift upwards to form a lump like state … This lump like state is called as Ushnisha” …

The eternal guide continued further … But if the force of this lifting up of Udana Prana is very large or its time span is lesser, then the skull can also be ripped at the top … So this is a dangerous vital air too and in history there are plenty of proofs of Yogi’s becoming crazy due to what is discussed here as the force of effects of this vital air … Within the eternity as is of the Makers Makings and the path of Yoga Tantra, this aspect of bursting open of skull bones has happened to more than a few advanced aspirants”…

The guide continued … “This is also the vital air which if handled properly, can make an aspirants consciousness soar to that which is beyond this physical realms and in some advanced aspirants, to even those divine realms, which as such could only be termed as beyond all that is defined as beyond … Sometimes these upwardly flows of Udana can also be very hot and this is the stage when the aspirant may feel that thin wires are burning inside the brain … The burning feeling as such is due to the unioned state of 1st vital air (Apana Prana) and 4th vital air (Udana Prana) entering into the subtle nerves of brain” …

The little student agreed by experience and nodded in affirmative …

And the eternal guide continued … “This 4th vital air governs the ability of speech, hearing, sight, standing upright, power of will, ability to retain knowledge, ability of enthusiasm and exercise, ability of deeper meditative states and to a certain extent, sixth and further subtler senses and also the metaphysical abilities … Thus, this air is most predominant and active within higher forms of life and is not even active to such extent within the lower forms of life where it exists, but is mostly in a less active state … Humanity is closer to the middle of higher and lower forms of macrocosmic speciology” …

And then the eternal guide continued … “This air also leads to an upwardly rise of consciousness and thus it assists in evolutionary process … The aspirant whose 4th vital air is of a higher purity (and thus is brighter) is also the one who holds directly acquired knowledge of beyond realms” …

The eternal guide continued … “When the 4th vital air is merged to the 5th vital air, then this is what renders a halo around the head of that aspirant … And this is also the condition where the top of head of that aspirant looks like to be having sweat (like water drops present in the top of head, even when there is nothing like this) … This state is because when this air merges to Vyana Prana, then the skin of top of skull also has a silvery shine which looks as if water is smeared on the top of skull” …

The eternal guide continued … “When the upward moving 4th vital air (Udana Prana) is united to outwardly moving 5th vital air (Vyana Prana) and then the outward moving 5th vital air (Vyana) takes the flows of the Udana Prana out of the top of head, then such aspirants have visions of many subtle, Siddha and divine realms … This is as the consciousness of such aspirants is no longer restricted to the physical realms (like this planet) and is also not restricted to the physical vehicle” …

The eternal guide continued telling further … “This vital air leads to auric strength … A stronger aura also keeps external entities away from the physical body and it also keeps the body hard and strong and on its toes for ever more of knowledge and wisdom, but by direct experience and not through reading books … That aspirant who has attained to Buddhata (Buddhahood) and thus he (or she) becomes the knower of allness, would have this 4th vital air in a very active state and this is what would lead to his Ushnisha to get built up over a longer period of time” …

And then the eternal guide told … “The rise of Kundalini Shakti from its sleeping position which is at the base of spine, till the thousand petalled lotus of the head, is also due to the upward moving effects of this air … But this rise is only after the 1st vital air (Apana Prana) which is present in lower parts of the body, unites to the 3rd vital air of the heart (Prana Prana) via the intermediary state of the 2nd vital air (Samana) and then this combination enters into a union to the 4th vital air (Udana Prana) … This is the stage when the Kundalini Shakti begins rising upwards and which itself denotes the upliftment of the aspirants consciousness into that which is beyond the physical realms … And if this entire combination also unites to the 5th vital air (Vyana Prana) that there is nothing which that aspirant would not know after that aspirants Kundalini rises upwards to the thousand petalled lotus that is present at the tip of brain (i.e. Sahasrara or Brahmarandra chakra) …

The little student nodded confirming understanding …

Then eternal guide said … “And during such a condition of rise of Kundalini Shakti, if the aspirant can maintain his (or her) detachment to allness and her each part, then these are the aspirants who attain to the state which was told as ‘liberated whilst alive or Jeevanmukta)” …

Then eternal guide continued further … “And if this rise is whilst maintaining a perfect state of consciousness (i.e. the aspirant is fully conscious and is witnessing all that is being passed by his or her consciousness), then this is what leads to the stage of Buddhata (i.e. Buddhahood) and such aspirants see allness (i.e. they see the entire multi-universe, with all its subtle, Siddha and divine realms) as if it were face to face with them … Such aspirants are those who are already gone from the entirety of Makers Makings, yet remain as the eternally ungone and yet permanently gone ones … These are the ones who have been named as Tathagata, which means ‘Thus gone ones’ … They neither have any existence, not any non existence and yet are the eternally existent ones … As far as the knowledge of self expression of the absolute being stands, i.e. knowledge of Makers Makings stands, they are the ones who know it all, by just training their mind into whatever is needed to be known by them … Thus, to be a Tathagata, accomplishment of Asmita Samadhi also stands paramount … Only those who have attained to Asmita, ever have such capabilities … And as a matter of fact, Asmita relates to Rudra Deva itself … And since Rudra only walks the path of “Itself within Itself”, so such aspirant also remain in the same path of Rudra Deva, but after they have attained to Buddhahood (Buddhata)” …

The eternal guide told … “The science of Prana neither has any imaginable or calculable origin not any visualizable or calculable end … This science of Prana is also related to Shruti i.e. Vedas because Shruti which means that which is heard, is also related to sound, which itself is Prana … Thus, Vedas have also been told as eternal, i.e. without a beginning or end … And the final state of Prana is what was told as Prana Brahma, or the Prana itself is the Absolute being, who has manifested as Prana … Thus, Shruti (Vedic knowledge) is also related to Prana Brahma only” …

And then the eternal guide said … “Everything that has a sound in it, is having a vibratory field, and at the core of all vibration, is Prana … Those who know this through a direct cognition, attain to what was told by fully accomplished sages, as being a Pranatma (i.e. one whose Atma is Prana) and such a sage is like Atma manifested as Prana which has manifested in a human form) … Such sages are also like Maa Shakti (mother of multi-universe) and that too where the supreme mother has taken a human form” …

And then the eternal guide further said … “Matter originates from original energy and that original energy is naught but Prana … Thus, the originality of matter is also Prana only … After matter has lived its life, it dissolutes back to its own original energy state and thus the end of existence of everything, itself is the origin of existence … Due to this, the end of existence as matter, is beginning of existence as energy, whose core its nothing but Prana … Thus, the originality and finality of allness and her each part, is nothing but Prana … And it is due to this reason that there is an eternal ‘inter convertibility of allness’, and as far as matter and energy are concerned … And the same is also applicable to their (matter and energy) common original and final root, i.e. Prana” …

The eternal guide continued further … “That aspirant who knows this through a direct cognition, is the Atma Shakta (i.e. one whose divinity rests as the root of allness) and such aspirants eventually become a Sam Sam Buddha (i.e. an all knowing Buddha who also teaches by distributing his knowledge to others and where this distribution of is in the language of humanity, but keeping the language of macrocosm, i.e. Sanskrit, as a foundation) … The words, ‘Sam Sam’ also denote the state of holding a ‘fullness or completeness of Samta (or macro-equanimity)’ and this fullness of Samta is what was told as Sarva Samta by the self realized, all realized sages … Sarva Samta is of Sadyojata face of Shiva, which is also termed as Brahmaloka (i.e. abode of creator) … And due to this reason, there has never been a Sam Sam Buddha who has not related to Brahma (creator of allness) … And thus due to this reason, the knowledge of a Sam Sam Buddha also leads to the aspirants inner oneness to Brahmaloka (or Sadyojata face of Sadashiva) … And this also means, that, the path of that distributed knowledge of a Sam Sam Buddha always leads to emancipation of that aspirant, into Brahmaloka … Whether we name such a Buddha as Sam Sam Buddha or as a Pranatma or as an Atma Shakta, it doesn’t make any difference because these three words denote the same accomplishment fullness of knowledge, i.e. Buddhata (Buddhahood)” …

The little student nodded of understanding …

 

Final unseeding of impressions (Samskaras) and from within the cave of Prana …

And then the eternal guide said … “Let’s stay here while this one (pointing to the student) shall effect the release of the unseeded impressions and the process of this unseeding shall also be with the same impression that was generated by earlier unseeding of impressions and this shall also be done with the same will and detachment as was during earlier unseeding of impressions” …

The little student asked … “From within this 4th vital air?” …

To this query, the eternal guide replied … “If the win has to be permanent, then it has to be done from within its root state” …

The student held onto the hand of its eternal guide … Arrived at a strong will to lift up those remnants of all the unseeded visible and invisible impressions and sent all of them into the cave of fire of austerities (Yoga Agni Guha) … Just as was told” …

The fire of austerities or Yoga Agni was suddenly much brighter … But this time, the impressions also passed impressions passed through the 4th vital air (Udana Prana) then through the 4th sub vital air then through the 5th sub vital air and then through the 5th vital air (Vyana Prana) and then and as these escaped the auric field (which is due to Vyana Prana) of the physical vehicle in their unseeded states (after passing through the Yoga Agni Guha), all these were seen to be entering into their respective planes (in the greater macrocosmic creation) … The little student felt totally free and light …

Then the eternal guide said “Better to be free from ashes also, as at some later state, these impressional ashes can lead to further need of impressions” …

And then the eternal guide pointed to the one impression which was all that was remain in the consciousness cave … “See the shine within this … Due to multiple fruiting and unseeding that have been carried out in this singular impression, till now, its shine is also crystal … Since we used the previous effect as the further cause, which led to further effects, so this is the final impression that has remained after all these unseeding of impressional fields have been completed, till now … This is the last and final impression that has been generated by this entire exercise of Hridayakasha Garbha Tantra” …

The little student nodded in understanding …

Then the eternal guide said … ”Lets walk back to the 4th sub vital air” …

Both walked in silence … But then the little student asked … “After this last cleansing, all of a sudden, why has the physical vehicle become so light” …

The eternal guide replied … “Eviction of unnecessary burden of impressions, has led to this state … It would become normal after a while, when the physical and subtle body adapts to this sudden change that has taken place due to evicting of impressions”  …

 

Devadatta Upa Prana … Devdutt Upa Prana … Devdatt Upa Prana …

After a short walk, the eternal guide pointed to a light blue color that was visible, and said … “This is the 4th sub vital air or Devadatta Upa Prana (or Devdatt Upa Prana)” …

The little student saw in awe again and asked … “This 4th sub vital is also rising” …

The eternal guide said “As is the guide, so is the student … eventually” …

Then the eternal guide said … “Now, we shall just go till the end of this cave and then again exit into the vast expanses of ether of heart” …

The little student kept holding the hand of its eternal guide as they again walked through the 5th sub vital air and then through the 5th vital air and then the two exited out of the cave of Prana and walked back to the center of all the caves as are within the ether of heart …

As the two sat back within ether and while they were facing all the caves that were in ether and then the eternal guide asked … “Now, what is the color of this cave of Prana?” …

The little student saw and said .. “Pink” …

The eternal guide said “This was the first Prana which manifested from the light pink colored ‘Avyakta Prakriti (non manifest non present nature)’ which itself was manifested from the single original vital air (i.e. Prana) which was of diamond white color and not how it is now” …

The little student asked … “Why not yellow color, as is of the 3rd vital air or ‘Prana Prana” because all Prana (vital airs) have their names related to the Prana Prana itself? …

The eternal guide replied … “Yellow which is the color of 3rd vital air (‘Prana Prana) relates to pristine element of the Maker (or Brahma Tattva)” …

The little student asked … Since Brahmatattva is higher than Avyakta, so was Yellow color Prana Prana that relates to Brahmatattva, the first prana and not the pink colored Vyana, which as such relates to Avyakta Prana or Avyakta?” …

The eternal guide replied … “Yes, Yellow was the first to manifest from the Pranava (Omkar) but because IT desired to be many, so many it eventually became” …

Then the eternal guide said … “These differentiations of five Prana, are due to the Maya, which as such is the trinity of forces that relate to cosmic deception, ignorance and limitations … The original Prana only arrived at effects of Maya after they had divided into these discussed Prana and their five Upa Prana … And this division was only effected to have variety of flows and dynamism within the macrocosmic creation, and thus ensure greater probabilities of survival of macrocosmic creation …

The eternal guide further told … “This need of greater number of permutations and combination of probabilities of ensuring diversity was because as far as the macrocosmic creation is concerned, “If she ceases to be dynamic … she shall immediately cease to exist” …

And then, the student nodded in a confirmation of understanding …

Then the eternal guide told … “So this brings us to the end of discussions on the Cave of Prana of heart … And now we shall proceed further …

The little student kept looking at the divine face of his eternal guide and said nothing …
